Retride Ingredients: Three BHB Salts in a 60 mg Blend, and What Studies Used
Quick answer
Retride lists three ketone salts, magnesium, calcium and sodium beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), in one 60 mg blend per 2-capsule serving, with no amount for each. The capsule also holds microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate. Human studies of BHB salts used 3.75 to 24 grams, tens to hundreds of times more, and did not show weight loss.

What are the ingredients in Retride?
The Retride Supplement Facts panel has six ingredient lines. Three are BHB salts that share one 60 mg blend; three are the capsule and the helpers that fill it. No line gives a single amount.
| Line on the label | What it is | Amount per 2 capsules | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnesium Beta Hydroxybutyrate | Ketone salt | Part of the 60 mg blend | The active blend |
| Calcium Beta Hydroxybutyrate | Ketone salt | Part of the 60 mg blend | The active blend |
| Sodium Beta Hydroxybutyrate | Ketone salt | Part of the 60 mg blend | The active blend |
| Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) | Plant-fiber filler | not published | Fills out the capsule |
| Gelatin (capsule) | The capsule shell | not published | Holds the powder |
| Magnesium stearate | Flow agent | not published | Helps powder run through filling machines |
Each salt has its own page: magnesium BHB, calcium BHB and sodium BHB.
The panel marks the % Daily Value as not established. It also says the product was "manufactured in an FDA registered facility". That describes a building, not an approval: the FDA does not approve supplements before sale (FDA, Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements).
What is BHB, and what are exogenous ketones and ketone salts?
BHB, short for beta-hydroxybutyrate, is the main ketone your liver makes from fat when carbs run low. In that state, called ketosis, the body uses fat as its main fuel (Cleveland Clinic, Ketosis: Definition, Benefits and Side Effects).
"Exogenous" means from outside the body. An exogenous ketone is BHB you swallow instead of BHB your liver makes. It comes in two main forms. A ketone salt binds BHB to a mineral such as magnesium, calcium or sodium. A ketone ester is a different, stronger form sold mostly as drinks.
Swallowed BHB can raise the BHB in your blood for a few hours. It does not make your liver produce ketones, and a 2025 review says exogenous ketones may not directly cause weight loss (Nutrition Reviews, Biesiekierska 2025, Ketogenic nutrition and obesity).

What are the three BHB salts in Retride?
Retride lists magnesium, calcium and sodium BHB in one 60 mg proprietary blend. Tap a name to see what each salt is and the dose it was studied at.

Ketone salt
Magnesium BHB
BHB bound to magnesium. No human trial has tested it on its own; it appears only inside salt blends.
Studied at: 3.75 g per serving, twice a day, in a three-salt blend given to teenagers.
Ketone salt
Calcium BHB
BHB bound to calcium. Also studied only in blends, mixed with sodium BHB or with sodium and magnesium BHB.
Studied at: One dose of 0.5 g per kg of body weight, in 6 adults.
Ketone salt
Sodium BHB
The most studied BHB salt. Gram doses raise blood ketones for 3 to 4 hours and carry a lot of sodium.
Studied at: About 10 to 24 g a day for 6 to 8 weeks.
Capsule and fillers
The helpers
Microcrystalline cellulose, a gelatin capsule and magnesium stearate. They hold and move the powder.
Studied at: Not active ingredients; no amounts printed.
Suggested use
The 70/25/5 diet
The label asks for 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carbs. That keto diet is what creates ketosis.
Studied at: Keto diets gave about 1 to 2 kg more loss than other diets in reviews.
All three salts deliver the same BHB. What changes is the mineral that rides along with it. At the gram doses in studies that mineral adds up; inside a 60 mg blend it cannot. The split between the three salts is not printed.
How does the 60 mg blend compare with studied doses?
The whole blend, all three salts together, weighs 60 mg (0.06 g) per serving. Human studies of BHB salts used 3.75 g to about 24 g, so the blend is tens to hundreds of times smaller.
| Studied serving | Times the 60 mg blend | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.75 g, twice a day, three-salt blend (ages 10 to 17) | About 62x | Ketones 0.7 mmol/L at 15 minutes; product supplied and funded by a ketone company | (Nutrients, Stefan 2021, Sodium/calcium/magnesium BHB salt in adolescents) |
| 5 g, twice a day, with a low-calorie diet | About 83x | Not significantly different from placebo for weight (p = 0.09); funded by Ketone Labs | (Nutrients, Roeth 2025, BHB salts with a low-calorie diet) |
| About 12 g in one drink | About 200x | Ketones peaked near 1 mM in about an hour, back to baseline in 3 to 4 hours | (Frontiers in Physiology, Stubbs 2017, Metabolism of exogenous ketones) |
| 11.8 g, twice a day, with a keto diet | About 400x a day | 7.3 kg lost with salts vs 8.0 kg with placebo | (Frontiers in Nutrition, Buga 2021, Ketone salts and body composition) |
These numbers show size, not proof of anything. No study tested 60 mg, so nobody knows what it does. What we do know: even at gram doses, ketone salts did not add weight loss to a keto diet.
What does the 70/25/5 diet on the label mean?
The label says: "For best results in achieving ketosis, aim for a diet ratio of 70% fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbohydrates." That is a ketogenic diet, and it is the part of the plan that changes your body's fuel.
With 20 to 50 grams of carbs a day, ketosis usually starts in two to four days (Cleveland Clinic, Ketosis: Definition, Benefits and Side Effects). Any ketosis or weight loss on that plan comes from the food, not from the capsule.
Keto diets help some people, but the extra loss is small. Low-carb diets gave about 1 to 2 kg more loss than balanced diets (Cochrane (Naude 2022), Low-carb vs balanced-carb diets, plain summary), and keto beat low-fat by 0.91 kg over a year or more (Br J Nutr, Bueno 2013, Very-low-carb keto diet vs low-fat diet (meta-analysis)). Keto flu, kidney stones, higher LDL cholesterol and nutrient gaps are known risks.

What are MCC, gelatin and magnesium stearate doing in the capsule?
They are the working parts of a capsule, not active ingredients. None of them has a printed amount.
- Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC)
- A filler made from plant fiber. It bulks up a tiny powder so a machine can fill each capsule evenly.
- Gelatin (capsule)
- The shell. Gelatin is usually made from animal collagen, and the label does not name the source, so ask the seller if you avoid animal products.
- Magnesium stearate
- A flow agent that keeps powder from sticking to equipment. It is a separate line from magnesium BHB.
The label does not give the weight of the filler or the shell, and it does not list sugar, flavors or colors. Every panel line is read on the Retride Supplement Facts page.
BHB salts vs ketone esters: what is the difference?
Retride uses salts, not esters. The two are often lumped together in ads, but the studies behind them are different, and so are the results.
| Point | Ketone salts (in Retride) | Ketone esters (not in Retride) |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | BHB bound to a mineral | A different, stronger ketone form |
| Blood BHB in studies | About 0.6 to 1.2 mM after about 12 g (Frontiers in Nutrition, Cuenoud 2020, D-BHB salts pharmacokinetics) | 3.3 mM within an hour (University of Oxford record, Stubbs, A ketone ester drink lowers ghrelin and appetite) |
| Hunger | No change in appetite or food intake in women over 10 days (Int J Exercise Science, Nepocatych 2022, Ketone salt and energy intake in women) | Lower hunger and ghrelin for a few hours in short studies (Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Vestergaard 2021, Acute ketosis and appetite) |
| Extra load | A mineral with every gram | No mineral |
What does the "Inside Retride" graphic show?
The brand's own graphic names the same three salts as the label, in capsule form. Tap a number to see what each panel tells you, and what it leaves out.

- Magnesium BHB Shown as a molecule model. No amount is given here or on the label.
- Calcium BHB Same: named, not measured.
- Sodium BHB The most studied of the three, at grams per serving.
- Capsule format Two capsules hold the whole 60 mg blend, plus filler.
- Bottle label The front claims carry an asterisk: the FDA has not evaluated them.
- Follow label directions Two capsules a day with 8 oz of water, and no more.

Retride ingredients: questions people search
What are the Retride ingredients?
Magnesium, calcium and sodium beta-hydroxybutyrate in a 60 mg blend per 2 capsules, plus microcrystalline cellulose, a gelatin capsule and magnesium stearate. No single amounts are printed.
What is beta-hydroxybutyrate?
It is the main ketone body, a fuel the liver makes from fat when carbs are low. Supplements sell it bound to a mineral (a salt) or as an ester.
What are BHB salts?
BHB bound to a mineral such as magnesium, calcium or sodium so it can be sold as a powder or capsule. Each gram of salt brings some of that mineral with it.
What are exogenous ketones?
Ketones you swallow instead of ketones your body makes. They come as salts or esters and raise blood BHB for a few hours at gram doses.
Do BHB salts work?
They raise blood ketones for 3 to 4 hours at gram doses. They did not add weight loss to a keto diet in a 6-week trial at about 24 g a day.
Do BHB ketones help weight loss?
The evidence we found says no clear benefit. One 8-week trial of 10 g a day was not significant against placebo, and a 2025 review says they may not directly cause weight loss.
Magnesium BHB, calcium BHB and sodium BHB: why combine them?
The label does not say. Studied products also mixed salts, and at gram doses each one adds its own mineral; at 60 mg the mineral amounts stay small.
BHB salts vs esters: which is stronger?
Esters gave higher blood BHB in studies, about 3 mM or more, against about 1 mM for salts. Retride contains salts only.
How much BHB is in Retride?
60 mg for all three salts together in each 2-capsule serving. Studies used 3.75 g or more per serving.
